This was a garden plot which was located within a conservation area and as a result the design required a traditional approach to the external appearance, and in particular the street elevation. A modern approach was taken to the planning of the internal spaces. This was achieved by the local architect Daniel Lobato.
The project started on site in April 2011 and was completed in February 2012. During this period we provided a full building service, managing all the onsite aspects of the build including arranging all utility companies for new connections to the property.
The house also utilises sustainable energy sources having included in our build contract the installation of solar PV panels for electricity and solar thermal panels for hot water, as well as reusing the rainwater within the house and garden.
The 2.5 storey 5 bedroom house provides all the living accommodation on the first floor; including the master bedroom with ensuite, the open plan kitchen - dining - living space as well as the entrance lobby and WC. The main living area leads out onto the large courtyard to the rear which doubles up as parking space. On the ground floor are a further two bedrooms, one with an ensuite and both with patio doors leading out to a semi-private patio. This level also contains a family bathroom and utility room. On the second floor the roof space has been developed to provide a further two bedrooms both with ensuite.
