Formerly the Tavern in the Port pub. We were asked to look in to the condition of the roofs and gutters, and found that most of this was in very poor condition which in turn had led to a lot of water getting into the building.
We were instructed to remove all the old roof coverings and replace with new felt, batten and natural slate. During this process we also replaced the timber facia, fitted new aluminium guttering and completed a redecoration of the outside of the buildings.
We also carried out the removal of all the rubbish from inside the building which was left behind from the previous occupants.
During the job various significant historical finds were uncovered which have led to the building being linked with Sir Richard Grenville. From here the Bideford 500 group wish to purchase the building and convert it into a museum/historical centre.
